I never imagined I'd be writing something like this, but it looks like I have to.

What's theSLRgirl? It's a brand dedicated to the SLR McLaren.

When I chose the name, I thought that the "girl" will add a pinch of fun in a rather serious subject. I juxtaposed the SLR with, well, me. She's a sunset on Mulholland Drive, while I'm cowboy boots in a Mustang. We're the opposites, but the opposites attract. The SLR is my dream car, even though I got a range - one minute I'm in a Mustang, the next - in the SLR. But the main focus of theSLRgirl is on when I'm with/in the SLR. When I'm posting about the other cars, I only do it to support the "girl" part and to give you an idea of how I ended up here and what made me. A bigger picture, if you may.

The "girl" part is very suppressed for a reason. I've chosen the SLR as my subject and that requires a more different approach to the online presence. The SLR is a very exclusive, rare, expensive, fancy car. I'm on board with that and I'm fully aware of the effect of my subject. While this is all a fact, I'm also trying to bring the car "closer" to you by inserting me as a middlewoman - to make everything a bit more relatable and real. It's not easy to be a woman in this field, thanks to all OF "car girls". Just to be clear - I don't do OF, never had, never will. I'd rather clean toilets. It's called self-respect, something a lot of young women lack of.

And the "girl" part is not suppressed because of the OF "car girls", it's suppressed because of the phenomenon of "being a woman on the internet". I can talk a lot about it, but long story short - the more I post my face and myself, the bigger "victim" of this phenomenon I'll become. If I've chosen to talk about a different topic, I wouldn't mind. But the SLR is like I said - serious. Let me walk you through what I mean. Fist, my audience is mostly people who have the car or aspire to have it - in most cases they're gentlemen, collectors. They live the lifestyle, just like myself. They prefer the blog as a medium over a 10sec video. Hence why this blog is still the main channel. Second, I want to be taken seriously. If I include myself in every post, I'll surely lose that barrier I have with the audience. That barrier is the knowledge and the experience they want to gain. It's their curiosity. I'll take that away, if I take the same center stage as the SLR. What I want to say will sound more vague and the focus - more blurry.

And third - it's always been about the SLR and the SLR only. I had my fair share of being an influencer when influence mattered. Even Paris Hilton "followed" me (on myspace it was "friends", not followers). Great bands like Asking Alexandria used to send me their demo albums and waited for my response whether they should release it. Influence mattered, now it's just "buy my trash, so that I can buy more trash". I'm not participating in that. I've had big brands contact me for paid collabs. I'm not a sellout and my opinion can't be bought. So, yes, It's only about the SLR.

Now, I do participate in events with the cars as myself. You get to see me, talk to me, etc. I guess this adds some personality to the account and gives an idea to some of you that you can approach me as me through theSLRgirl. Some of you have become bolder and slid into my DMs for everything, but the SLR. I won't tolerate that. I try to be polite, but some of you are pushy. 100% of the time I reply out of politeness. I understand that some of you use your car accounts as dating profiles - an ego boost for a lot. I don't.

I only reply to SLR people, event organisers, fellow supercar owners (to share experience) or to people I know irl and I'm close to. If you send me a "Hey, how are you?" - I won't reply. I'm also not chronically online, I got a life lmao. Sometimes it might take days to get back to you. Imagine it this way - you're talking to a car. Okay?! You're not talking to me as Elena. You're talking to me as theSLRgirl. I'm not online as theSLRgirl to make friends, to find a boyfriend or to kill time. My circle is very small, I do have a boyfriend and I love dedicating time to the SLR. This is all for free, like I said, I'll never push products on you. It'll be lame as someone with an SLR to try and sell you tires for 50eur each, for example. It's just lame to try and sell you anything. The only collaboration I've accepted and I'll always accept is the one with Monster Energy. I'm in sync with their branding, I love their contributions to the motorsport and I vibe with their spirit. They've gifted me McLaren x Monster Energy items, which I'll cherish forever, because to me they stand for believing in myself in times when everyone is a carbon copy of whatever is trending. So, that's it. That's what I wanted to share. By all means - feel free to hit me up with anything cars related. Just stick to cars. x
