Paris post-Christmas lights
Y’all kept asking me about this - is there damage on Paris after I removed the Christmas lights? Short answer - yes, long answer - no.
Let me elaborate...

First things first, Paris is almost entirely covered in PPF. Some bits are constantly being re-done simply because they get damaged from the driving, which is to be expected.
I did expect some damage from the Christmas lights and I still went on with it. So, I was mentally prepared for some scratches in the PPF here and there.
I bought relatively expensive lights, I spent 300EUR on the lights alone and 30EUR on tape. So, yeah, I didn’t exactly go for the cheapest options, which was the way to do it, since it’s an SLR. I used electrical tape to secure the lights. I saw a few videos of people executing this idea and almost all of them used masking tape. The masking tape just couldn’t stick to the PPF for whatever reason, so I got the idea to use electrical tape. It turned out to be the gentler option and once applied, the lights didn’t move for a month! Yes, I kept them on for a month, simply because me being me, I decided to do this 1 week before I went on a trip to North America. The execution, the photoshoot, the edits - everything in one week. So I didn’t have time to take it down before I left. I also had other ideas for when I get back, which I sadly couldn’t get done. But yeah, this gives you an idea of how I do things for theSLRgirl. Alone and almost always in a rush lol I saw a lot of content creators who hire a whole team to get their cars covered in lights. I mean, that is smart. I absolutely associate this activity with me losing the feeling in my knees for days.
One month later, I was ready to take it all down. I didn’t expect it to be a 5 mins job, but it took 3 hours. I was mega careful, otherwise it can be done a lot quicker. There are a few scratches in the PPF, nothing major. Nothing Paris’ yearly detailing job can’t get fixed.
So here is your answer - yes, it did minor damage, but allow me to hold your hand when I tell you this: It’s better for this car to get scratches every now and then than to sit and collect dust. It means the car is enjoyed. The car is driven. Creating core memories with this car is worth the detailing bill after! Road damage is inevitable, too. The SLR belongs on the road and every scratch, no matter how big or frail it is, tells a story. My story, our story and I’m just getting started with it! Paris will be taken out next week for an intro photoshoot with the Green Monster for IG. The absolute privilege to drive two iconic cars in one day! I can't wait! So, don’t blink, or you might miss two mighty cars passing you!
See you around!
