Let’s talk about SLR’s recent value hike

Don’t tell me I didn’t warn you. I’ve been preaching it for, what, six years! 

A 722 just sold for $1.4M during Monterey Car Week. The standard coupe’s price is anywhere between $450,000 and $800,000. 

While these prices signal that the market is warming up towards it, it’s still severely undervalued, so it’s not too late. In fact, we’re still early. 

Why the hike?

Dealerships and collectors globally are beginning to realise the scarcity and the cool factor of the SLR. Some of the most influential dealers in the exotic world added at least one SLR to their inventory since the beginning of the year (eg. - Curated). Even Gas Monkey Garage got one. 

The sales happen incredibly fast. While in the past, an SLR would sit for months before eventually finding a buyer, some sales happen within a day today. This represents a total shift in the way collectors and buyers see the car. The liquidity alone makes it hot, even as a way to transfer money/value. 

Where is the market headed?

We’ll likely see the last SLRs selling under $500,000 this year and it’ll close the year between $500,000 and $850,000. There is still no universal consensus on how much the average is worth, so the prices will continue to vary in that range. As soon as we have a consensus (like the Murci’s value), I think it’ll go vertical. All of the conditions to go vertical are almost present at the moment.

How much an SLR will be worth?

Like I said, it’s anywhere between $450,000 and $ 800,000 at the moment. As soon as the best examples cross the $1M mark, which is also a psychological barrier, the sky will be the limit. In my opinion, it’ll surpass the manual Murciélago LP640 relatively soon. It’s just a better, more exotic car than the Murci. And 100x more reliable. 

How much is Paris Hilton’s SLR worth?

I get offers all the time. Some as a joke, some are serious. I have billionaires in my DMs asking to buy it. It’s not for sale. If it were, considering a 722 sold for $1.4M, the current value is between that and $2M, closer to the upper end. It’s highly liquid, if I put it up for sale, it’ll sell within minutes, if not seconds. Some people are following me just to buy it eventually from me. An offer around 2 million dollars will be a solid start, if it were for sale. 

So, don’t wait too long. The market can move overnight, and the foundation to set value records is taking shape.
