“Did I just make the biggest mistake?”

Updated: Apr 25

I could’t eat, I could’t sleep. Even when I’m not lucky, I’m still lucky. It was the oil pump! There was a very slim chance that it could have damaged the engine and that meant an engine rebuilt. PHEW! It was just the oil pump.

“Did I just make the biggest mistake?” - that was the question I asked myself daily. I had a feeling about this car and I had to have it like it was meant to be. What were the odds to have an opportunity to buy it the day I was supposed to order a Shelby GT500?! Was the simulation testing me once again? Maybe I should have went for the Shelby?! But we live only once and I know better than most people to seize an opportunity when I see one. This was the best deal on a 720S in Europe, but not if it was for an engine rebuilt. That meant 40k EUR down the drain.

It’s been rough. No other car has made me feel such an instant connection. I legit felt it in my bones that this car belongs with me. It’s not like I haven’t had other great deals on the table in the past, but nothing has made me feel the same way. Monster was the ONE! So, when I got the oil pressure warning I started questioning my gut feeling. I’d only driven the car for a couple of weeks. It was soul crushing. This will probably sound too entitled to almost anyone who isn’t into cars, but since you’re here, you’re most likely into cars and you will understand the pain I felt.

“But my judgement is never wrong” - this thought kept me going during the past 3 weeks.

I know Monster isn’t for everybody. It’s been crashed and driven a lot. Almost anyone who’s on the market for a supercar will absolutely continue scrolling past it and never see the potential. But I’m not everybody. Life has taught me to never judge a book by its cover and that fantastic opportunities await once you open your heart and your mind for the unexpected. I saw so much beauty and potential. Maybe because I’m not perfect myself, I’ve seen things, I’ve been through a lot, so it takes someone like me to understand that life is all about that. I don’t judge. We’re the non-judging car club. Preppy boys can have the perfect examples that sit in their garages for ages. Good luck with that maintenance. I want to enjoy life and my cars.

So, Monster went through an inspection and there are some things that require attention and some parts need to be replaced (minor things), but other than that the car is in a perfect state. My gut feeling was right! Maybe the car finally felt home and was waiting for someone like me to take a proper care of it. I would like to think it was that.

For the record, I installed an upgraded version and will likely last for a long time. It costed around 2.5k EUR.

I’m just so thrilled to have it back!

See you around!

P.s. Some of you, when you see me, start "flirting" with my car and try to engage in stupid activities on public roads. I don't do that. Never did, never will. I do drive in a spirited and motivated manner, but this is not an invitation to race. Others wave and drive around me for some time, you're cool, I don't mind you. Feel free to send me rolling shots! <3
