14 years apart
Autumn is now my favourite season. I thrive best at 15-25 degrees C. So do the exotics.
Ironically, the majority of the car events are happening during the summer. One of the reasons why we experienced Paris’ failure at the very end of theSLRtour last year was exactly the hot summer weather. I get that it’s the fun time of the year, but here we have fun all year round. I mean that. The 720S has the winters on and will be spotted just as frequently during the winter. Paris will be taken out occasionally, too. The Mustang GT and the BMW M2 are already with the all seasons on. The whole squad is ready.
I’ve been to a lot of car events in the last couple of years and I came to the realisation that no big supercar convoy can compare to an intimate drive with someone who enjoys meaningful conversations and is out there to make memories. theSLRgirl is a total alter ego. I’m rather introverted in real life and I would rather spend time with a handful of people I can be myself with, than with a large crowd and fans of such often pretentious events. I feel overwhelmed immediately, but if I’m there, this means I’m there as theSLRgirl and I make sure she’s switched on. I even have it on a video, which I’ll post eventually, where you can see how I go from the serious, unapproachable exotic car girlie to … me.
This doesn’t mean theSLRgirl is fake. She’s me, she’s a version of me that I can live with and I’m happy with. She’s everything I want her to be. She’s a brand and I’m the creative director of it. If you ask me - Elena, how I imagine my perfect day, I would say: infinite blue sky, I’m a ranch owner in Texas or Arizona, with my cowboy boots on, driving in my '69 Mustang on a dirt road. My heart is full when I picture this. I’m a country girl to the core; a free spirit.
theSLRgirl took Paris’ SLR to Monaco. See the difference?! They coexist.
I started to add bits of me to theSLRgirl’s aesthetic in the last year and I love the symbiosis. She’s wearing cowboy boots now and drives in them! She’s cool. My cowboy obsession started when I was living in Barcelona. That’s when I bought my first pair of authentic hand-made cowboy boots. The cowboys originate from Spain: the vaquero is the original cowboy and Spain still makes the best cowboy attire. My first cowboy hat I bought during my second trip to Mexico, where I'll be heading once again next month! So, if you know any cool car shows/events in Mexico City or Baja California happening in December, please, let me know! I'll be staying for a few weeks.
Whether I’ll find myself in a Texan ranch one day, only time will tell. In the meantime I’m enjoying some quality time with great people and their great cars.
